Weird Stuff: Laptop Steering Wheel Desk

It is a laptop desk. For a steering wheel. Yes, you attach this trail to the steering wheel of your car or van, and you can put the laptop on top (or a good book, or a two-course dinner). Of course, you have to be pretty stupid to use it while driving, so they do not need to mention that in the product description. Or do they?

Because suddenly, the product page is invaded by hundreds of bored people that begin writing some of the best product reviews I have seen: "It allows me to prop my sheet music against the wheel, allowing me to play the guitar with both hands while driving", "I love emailing the Highway patrol while I drive to let them know the tag numbers of cell phone using drivers" or "makes reloading your handgun while changing lanes a breeze".

Don't miss the "Other photos provided by users", with many photos of what happens when you use it.

Black Friday, good offers in electronics, clothing, home and games

I just received an email pointing to the Black Friday section of Amazon. They have some awesome offers (and also some of the typical unusable stuff :-D).

Especially, I have seen heavy discounts and good offers in:

Electronics: a few GPS and bluetooth earpieces (I don’t like the looks of those, but if you don’t mind, they are quite cheap)

Clothing: many interesting stuff including Levis and winter clothing. I definitely need some shoes.

Musical instruments: not my field of expertise, but many guitars and mics at 50% discount. I feel like buying a basic set and recording some songs to torture my friends :-D

Toys and games: Some good deals to begin stocking on Christmas gifts. Videogames too: several 20% to 50% discounts (World of Warcraft game and first month for $5? that’s cheaper than a regular month, right? amazing)

How does it work: you have the homepage at the Black Friday section. They have many deals distributed in the different categories, and on the top they have a long set of special deals with limited units. They will be opening new offers all through the day.

Candy from the 1940s – great gift idea

Now this is amazing. It is a package of classic candies from the 1940s , so if you are looking for a birthday gift or retirement gift for someone that was born at that time, this is sure to bring a lot of memories :)

I recognize some of the brands, but not others (I’m not from that time :)). They include : BB Bats, Bit O’ Honey, Bubble Gum Cigars, Canada Mints, C Howard Violet Gum, Candy Buttons, Candy Cigarettes, Charms Squares, Chuckles, Coconut Bars, French Chew, Jujubes, Kits Taffy, Long Boys, Pearson’s Salted Nut Roll, Red Hots, Sen Sen, Smith Brothers Licorice, Snaps, Sugar Daddy Pops, Teaberry Gum, Black Taffy, Bulls Eye’s Caramel Creams, Chick O Stick Nuggets, Necco Assorted Wafters, Root Beer Barrels, Slo Pokes & Walnettos. They say that the total weight is around 2 pounds, more than 50 pieces of candy.

The same company prepares similar gifts for other decades so look for the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's… So there you have, not only a good gift idea for someone in their 70s. but also for people in their 60s, 50s, 40s… just count backwards :)

It is an emotive gift, and quite inexpensive for the size of it.

I hope someone is still making this stuff when I’m older – it would be awesome to open the box and find all the memories from childhood.

Lots of furniture in gorgeous black faux leather, and quite cheap

It’s an Ottoman set: one ottoman for storage, another two smaller, and two trays. The covers can be cleaned quite easily, so it’s ideal as a furniture for houses with kids.
You can really improve the looks of your living room with this. It’s a bit over 100$, so it’s quite cheap! For that price I can even consider it as temporary furniture, something to put when you want to change the decoration, or when you need the additional sitting places. Other reviewers also say that kids love it.
There is another model in brown, but it’s not my thing. Maybe it fits your house style, though.
Anyway, don’t rush, look around the page carefully; I can see many interesting pieces with small pricetags in the “Also viewed” section.

Halloween parties, costumes and recipes (and pumpkins!)

Halloween is almost here! Just a few days to get everything ready! I began searching for ideas, and I found a complete set of Halloween goodies.
"Make Halloween scary again", says this book: Extreme Halloween: The Ultimate Guide to Making Halloween Scary Again. And it surely can help :-) Tom Nardone is very good at sculpting pumpkins (I mean, look at the cover!).
At the very least, this book is absolutely recent (only one month in print!) so it should have some new stuff to surprise your neighbours!
So then I looked at costumes (just for fun, didn’t want to buy at first) and I saw the two funniest costumes ever: Twister Costume (women) , which other people say gets lot of attention, and the Recycle Bin Halloween Costume which seems very funny to me :)
Of course, the next thing is candy. This 5 pound bag of Haribo Gummi Gold-Bears and this one of YummyEarth Organic Lollipops should get you covered, with two good brands at a cheap price.
I would also recommend this 6 foot cobweb for the spooky decoration, but check the bundle they suggest, you might like other options more, as the white cheap cobwebs.
Have fun!

Do not buy the Lost Symbol from Dan Brown, unless you are collecting all of them

The Lost Symbol, the last novel from Dan Brown, has only 2.5 stars out of 5 in Amazon. That’s very, very bad. I guess he got tired of writing interesting things and just wanted to check out of the writing business with another best-seller. A pity; I enjoyed the others. Check the link if you want to see the comments.
On the other hand, if you look at the same subject you could enjoy Freemasons For Dummies, which explains in a simple way lots of interesting facts about them. No politics, no mysticism. I think it’s a better reading, and it is a good prop for starting funny conversations with people.

Welcome!

I love to spend time digging through Amazon and other online stores. From time to time, deep inside them, I find good deals. Reasonably cheap, but quality books or DVDs or clothing or appliances that allow me to have a slightly happier life :)

I decided to build this blog to share it with those of you who have similar tastes. We are probably few of us, but hey, that’s what makes every person special, right? We can search for things together!

Just remember that happiness is not inside the object you buy. It only allows you to get a bit more better, by yourself.

Cheers!
